Thanks for stopping by Brown Wren Acres! It's so nice to see ya!
Let me show you around.
Here's our front lantern near the parking pad. It snowed (In Chesapeake? I know!) last Saturday night and I just had to get a picture of the snow before we left for church on Sunday.
Up on our screened porch, we have a small tree that I decorate with natural ornaments. I think I'm the only person in the United States who doesn't have a wreath on their front door! I just haven't found the perfect one yet.
On the red desk in the foyer, I placed our vintage nativity scene for all to see. These figurines were purchased by Hubs Nana in the 1930s. They have the prices written on the bottom of each piece in pencil. Mary cost 15 cents all those years ago.
My collection of snow globes and my snowflake accessories adorn the small hutch top in the kitchen. I leave most of them up until February (I only pack up the Christmas ones).
I attached a chicken ornament to a pinecone/greenery spray, bending the stem into a loop so I could hang it up. I strung a red ribbon through the loop and attached it to the top of the pine cupboard door with a thumb tack.
I placed an antique blue and white plate on top of a thrifted metal pedestal. Then I poured canning salt onto the plate and topped it with a nest ornament and a small ceramic bird. A cloche protects the whole thing. I have this sitting on the dining room sideboard.
For the dining room table (which is the only table we have to eat at), I placed the arrangement on a tray so it is easy to clear away when we're ready to eat. I used a thrifted wooden tray, a large candle stick from Pottery Barn, and a lantern I received for my birthday along with some garland from Restoration Hardware (before it turned into a dark and depressing store). The garland is really an autumn decoration, but I love the colors of burgundy and green so I use it for Christmas. On the front of the tray is one of a pair of cast iron rooster bookends that a friend gave me last year. I love it!
Here's my fireplace and the Christmas tree in the background. We were still in the process of decorating it - hence the opened ornament box on the floor. Oops!
I hope you enjoyed the tour of Brown Wren Acres. Ya'll come back soon!
